Backstory

With a culture that was lost in history during the Flood of Light, Zeri was born into a clan of refugees who longed to find a new home in what was left after much of the world’s decimation. Little is known about their escape during the flood, only that permanent side effects remained through their ancestor’s survival.Their bodies became infected with an illness that the clan deemed as the “Light’s Cursed.” Although it was not believed to be contagious, they soon discovered that it had become hereditary in their offspring. The disease caused patches of radial light to form on their bodies, which over time infected their immune systems. If the illness spread to their brain their symptoms would escalate, causing fatality in a matter of months. Children born into the clan bore the same symptoms, all of them being weaker and more fragile, surrendering them vulnerable to disease and poor health. None of the clan are known to reach old age.
Although the light of their skin is fatal, it was deemed as a mark of beauty to the people on the Canopy of Eulmore, and many of their children were kidnapped to serve the wealthy civilians. Zeri was born with light patterns in the pigment of his freckles that bore on his face and shoulders. In circumstances where his emotions would hit an elevated state, it would cause the light inside him to illuminate them more intensely, and for that, he was immediately seized.He was raised by a man who had purchased him merely for the enjoyment of his reactions. He would constantly set Zeri through a state of emotions that caused the glow in his skin to react in different ways, one of the emotions that heightened him the most was fear, and because of that he was constantly thrown into fatal situations. Because of this, Zeri has developed a habit of suppressing his emotions as a survival instinct.
However, while living within the walls of the wealthy, he was able to find sanctuary through the shelves of books that his lord collected throughout the years. One thing he could well thank him for was teaching him to read. Much of his time was spent delving through various collections of the books he could find on the shelves. He became fascinated in history, as his Lord owned many books that had been lost after the flood of light. But he also grew a passionate heart for the fictional and fairy tales, analyzing how they translated to pieces of history.His time there was cut short as the light in his body soon started to take over and cause him to fall ill, in a short time he became bedridden and unable to survive through methods of his own. Concluding he was more trouble than he was worth, it was decided that he was to be taken by the sin eaters. When the Sin Eater's arrived, instead of consumption they harboured him in the ruins of K'mul Astropolis.His clan seized this opportunity to recover him. Rescuing from the Sin Eater's captivity and bringing him to Slitherbough located in the Rak’tika Greatwood.Slitherbough had become home for the clan of refugees, and it was here that Zeri was bedridden for a long time, the light destroying many internal organs in his body. His clan was able to provide the proper medicine to reverse and slow down the effects of the illness. Because his condition had already become so severe before they were able to treat him, much of his immune system has been weakened, and his five senses were greatly affected. Though his sense of touch and smell has managed to remain intact, his vision and hearing are severely damaged, and eventually will fail him in due time. He has lost all sense of taste and because of that prefers hot drinks so he can feel their warmth and enjoy their aroma.During his recovery, he learns that he has a sister named Tsuchi. After his abduction, she and the other members of their clan had been watching closely to find a way he could be retrieved. She was the one to follow the Sin-Eater to the ruins and release his whereabouts to the others. She strongly believes Zeri was not eaten because he must possess a blessing bestowed upon him by the Sin-Eaters, and it may have something to do with the curse they were born with. She becomes obsessed with research and refers to the symptoms as those who are “Blessed by Light”, her mind becomes consumed with the thoughts of Sin-Eaters, living and breathing everything she can into her research until it is clear that she has become obsessed. She preaches that the fatal side effects only happen to those who were unable to harness the blessing on their own, how the ones are truly chosen, Like Zeri, will have the power to coexist with the Sin-Eaters. Supreme beings of a higher power, destined to bring the world into a new stage of light. As her obsession consumed her, she soon began to place them into fruition and lured people of their clan into the ruins where Zeri had been retrieved, believing it to be the Sanctum.When the residents of Slitherbough caught on to what was happening to the missing villagers, they had her quarantined and locked away to discuss the fate of her actions.As years passed in the village, Zeri spent a lot of time researching ways to rehabilitate Tsuchi and many of those that had begun to follow her ideals. He became deeply involved with books and medicine, researching the ancient ruins that brought him here.
Because of the short life expectancy, many of the children of his clan had lost their parents to the illness and had become orphaned. He often helped care for them. One of the children, a young Drahn named Khaliun, began taking a keen interest in Zeri’s book collection that he had gained, she asked him for a reason as it did not seem logical as to why lines on paper were so interesting to him. He taught her they were words and what he was doing was reading, but she disagreed, expressing there was no reason to read when stories could just be said out loud. He explained that it was a document to keep a record of stories so they may be passed down further to others. Now intrigued, she begged him to teach her how to make one. She was a great storyteller and wanted everyone to read her stories, so if making a book could help the entire world hear her tales, she wanted to know how to do it.He began teaching her to read, something very uncommon within their clan. She soon tried her hand at writing stories just as she told them. The two of them spent a great length of time together and grew to be very close, so it did not take long until he decided to take her under his wing and care for her as his daughter. She was bright and loved the gentle side of him that most other Drahn’s found a bit strange.Years passed, the villagers decide Tsuchi has been growing through noticeable change. So it was agreed that she could be released from holding, and re-taught the roles required of the villagers.She becomes strangely attached to Khaliun, claiming her to be a bright one and constantly following her around and copying everything that she does. Skeptical of her behavior, Zeri asks Khaliun to stay out of her reach, as he finds her intentions may not be safe. Khaliun agrees that she has been acting strangely, but because she is finding it incredibly hard to evade Tsuchi’s attention, she ends up keeping closely to Zeri's side. Neither Zeri nor Khaliun let each other out of their sight. When he voices his concern to the village leader, he is disregarded, being told that he is simply being overprotective and his sister is displaying nothing more than motherly affection towards Khaliun.During the yearly Celebration of the Harvest, Tsuchi is involved with preparing the food and drink for the night’s events.Not long into the night, both Zeri and Khaliun begin to feel exhausted and decide to retire to their quarters early for the night. While asleep, Tsuchi sneaks into their quarters, taking Khaliun from her bed. Zeri wakes up soon after, realizing his daughter is missing, and immediately suspects his sister for her disappearance.His body less responsive and heavy, and he can only assume the harvest had been laced by Tsuchi. The other villagers are still in the gathering of the festivities, all of them knocked out cold from the drug.He makes his way to K'mul Astropolis, where Tsuchi had taken all others she had abducted.
When he reaches the ruins, it is too late, Khaliun's body already being devoured by a sin eater.Zeri kills both Tsuchi and the Sin-Eater in a blind fit of hurt and rage, though not without wounds that leave him permanently scarred. Claiming back his daughter’s half-consumed corpse. He buries her within the woods, deciding he can no longer stay with the village, as it harbors far too many memories.He travels to the Crystarium, where he finds work in the walls of the Cabinet of Curiosity. Because his tribe did not consist of last names, when he is prompted for one he takes on the name of his daughter to hold in its place.Due to being a bearer of the “Light’s Cursed” he is not expected to live for many years longer, in response he works excessively to uncover as much of the hidden history of Norvrandt and The Source before his time has run out.

Horror/Dark I am an absolute fan of dark/horror elements in my RP. I prefer complicated morally grey characters to create intense and psychological stories.Angst, I love a lot of drama and sacrifice. ERP wise: Dominant/Top. An irresponsible sex-haver. With his lifeline hanging by a thread he doesn't waste a lot of time thinking about what may be a good or bad idea, he'll usually just go with the flow and if someone expresses an interest in him, he'll more than likely allow himself to see where things go. He has a tendency to hold back as too much excitement can awaken dangers, but he has a well-rounded arsenal of self control when it comes to the Sin Eater threatening inside.

Hi there! Thanks for stumbling upon my carrd page and taking the time to look through it! Outside of RP I enjoy running content in game and making new friends.
